"Bethel, Lenson Waller, native of Webster County, Missouri was born September 16, 1846 near the present town of Niangua at the head of the Niangua River. He was the eldest son of Wilson Henderson Bethel, a native of Illinois, born February 14, 1827, died May 20 1859, married September 8, 1845 to Sarah Ann Goodman Harper. Wilson H. Bethel was a son of Chester and Jennie (Jones) Bethel.
The Bethel family migrated to Montgomery County, Illinois, where they lived about one year, 1850-51, and by 1852, they migrated eastward across the Illinois River into Jersey County, Illinois, settling near Fieldon, where Wilson H. Bethel, the father, purchased an 80 acre farm. The family lived there until after the close of the Civil War.
In the spring of 1866, his mother, Mrs. Sarah A. Bethel, sold the family farm, leaving Fieldon, Illinois on Septmeber 3, arriving in Texas on September 28, traveling with other members of the family. Included where Robert N. Terry, a brother-in-law, and other members of the Terry family." Also, migrating was Sarah Ann Bethel's brother, James Riley Harper.

Bell married Thomas Henry Westbrook January 18, 1877 in Wolfe City, Hunt Co., TX. To this union were born these known children: Mettie Florence, Lenson Posey, Lester Gainey, Effie Lonley, Norton Duncan, Sarah "Sadie" Frances, and Thomas Floyd Westbrook. Lenson and Lester were twins. Lenson was born on September 2, 1880 and died 17 Dec 1881 Wolfe City, Hunt Co., TX. Lester Gainey was born September 2, 1880 and died September 13, 1882 at Wolfe City, Hunt Co., TX.
