JS Broshears, a pioneer of Thurston county, died Sunday at the home of AJ flesher, near Winlock, and was buried in the historic old Bush prairie cemetery south of Tumwater this afternooon. His grave is beside that of his wife who passed away many years ago. Mr. Broshears came across the plains from Illinois to the then Oregon territory in 1846. Several members of this party were killed by Indians. He was an associate of WO Bush, the well known pioneer of this county and was prominent in the public affairs of the community in pioneer days.

In addition to a large number of grandchildren he leaves four daughters and a son. They are J. S. Broshears, Jr., living in California; Mrs NK Flesher, of Winlock, Mrs. Ida R Wagner, of near Hebo, Tillamook county, Oregon; Mrs. Frances Carroll, of suburban Pierce county, Oregon; Mrs. Mary Marshall, of Roy, Wash.
