Roy was born October 31, 1904, in a sod house on the Bott homestead in Ree Township, Ward County, near Donnybrook, North Dakota; a son of Valentine and Emma (Schwede) Bott. He attended country school in Ree Township. As a young man he worked for a coal mine at Underwood, North Dakota; and then on a dairy farm in Minnesota. He later returned to the Bott homestead and farmed in Ree Township, Ward County, near Donnybrook, raising cattle and horses for most of his entire lifetime. He never married.
He was a member of the Carpio and Berthold Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his brother, Abner; sisters, Mabel Moseng, and Florence Haidle; sister-in-law, Edna Bott; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Rev. Earnie, Valentine, and Arthur.
