son of Samuel Cox & unknown mother, parents lived with Solomon & family in their elder years until their deaths. Mom was listed in "70-79" column on Solomon's 1830 Census but had died prior to 1838 writing of dad's will. Dad listed in "80-90" column on Solomon's 1830 census & "90-100" column on the 1840 census. Dad's will drawn up in Feb 1838, with Solomon listed as executor, & executed in Grainger County on 11 Nov 1840 indicating that Samuel had died in the weeks just prior;

brother of Jeremiah, Edmond, Harmon, Martha, Margaret, John, Levi, & Samuel (Dad's will lists all children including John who had died at some point before the Feb 1838 writing). Martha's husband William Glossup, Margaret's husband James White, & John's daughter are also named in Samuel's will;

married Dicy Glasgow on 10 June 1820 in Grainger County with brother Harmon listed as bondsman. Dicy may have died in 1860s. She was living with James Preston according to 1860 Census but no longer listed anywhere in 1870;

father of Nathaniel, William R., Winiford, Andrew, James Preston, John P., Pleasant, & Caroline Martha;

moved to Overton County along with wife Dicy, son Andrew & his family, son James Preston & his family, and unmarried daughter Caroline Martha sometime in the 1850s;

listed on the 1860 Federal Mortality Schedule for Overton County as having died in Feb 1860 of consumption.
