|Birth: ||Sep. 14, 1857|
Sør-Trøndelag fylke, Norway
|Death: ||Jan. 14, 1901|
In Norway, his name was Odin Ingebrigtsen Torkildsen was the son of Ingebrigt Torkildsen and Karen Olsdatter. In Norway's 1875 census his occupation was Tinsmith Apprentice. He was also a sailor.
His name was Odin so I think he must have looked like Odin, the Norse God.
He left Norway and came to America with his wife, Anna, and daughters, Karen and Mildred. They settled in Iowa where he was employed as the foreman for the railroad.
Odin and Anna had five more children born in Iowa: Olaf, Martin, Edna, Emmett and Eva.
He was adored by his wife, children and the community. He passed away at age 44.

Sudden Death at Blockton
Word reaches Bedford of the sudden death on Monday morning of O. [den] Torkelson, section foreman at that place. He was enjoying his usual health on Sunday morning, but soon after breakfast he became suddenly unconscious, and died within twenty-four hours. The cause of his death is not known, but it is supposed it was due to a broken blood vessel in his head.
