He was active in both civic and in church capacities, was a member of the school board, was on the Board of Trade on which he served as president. He was on the Opera House Committee and served as manager of the building. In church capacities, he was Sunday School Superintendent from 1902 to 1907 and when the ward was divided in 1912, was chosen as 1st Counselor to Bishop J. W. Evans, the new bishop. He was appointed postmaster in 1912 and he held this position for 36 years. In 1913, he opened a garage and two years later took the Ford agency and continued its operation until his retirement. He and his wife celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary in October, 1961, and had been married over 67 years at the time of his passing.

He leaves to mourn his passing besides his loving wife, three sons, Louis Robert of Seattle, Harold Thomas of Calgary, Shirley Wayne of Raymond; four daughters, Mrs. Stella Hill of Bremerton, Wash., Mrs. Wes (Necia) Mullett of Cedar City, Utah, Mrs. Niles (Lavonne) Wing of American Forks, Utah and Mrs. William (Melba) Mehew of Provo, Utah; 23 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ted of Almo, Idaho; one sister, Nellie Ward of Almo, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held in the Raymond 3rd Ward LDS Chapel on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m., with Bishop Earl W. Zemp officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot in the Temple Hill Cemetery. Friends may meet the family and pay their respects from 1 p.m. prior to the service.
