Samuel W. Akin was born in Williamson County, Tennessee on 12 Jan 1799. He married Eliza C. Alexander on 2 Oct 1822. Mr. Akin was a prosperous farmer, owning a plantation near the Williamson County line. He served Maury County as magistrate for several years. He died 27 Oct 1854 (according to his tombstone) or 28 October 1854 (according to his obituary) or 1856 (according to Goodspeed's History of Maury County). His son Alfred N. Akin was a Maury County official for many years and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.
