Russell S. Oyer, 73, Berne, passed away Thursday, March 1 at Swiss Village, Berne. He was born to Alva and Hazel(Fogel) Oyer on November 22, 1938 in Ft. Wayne. He married Nancy(Liechty)Oyer on August 20, 1960 who survives.

Russell was graduate of South side H.S., Ft. Wayne, Taylor University, and Ball State University. He taught math at Oak Hill High School for 32 years near Marion and was an adjunct professor at Indiana Weslyan and Ivy tech. He taught Sunday School and was president of the Evangelical Mennonite Church Conference Men's Group while living in Marion. When moving to Berne he became a member of the First Mennonite Church.

Special interests include: reading the Classics, writing and presently had a book at the publishers to be printed: Russell also enjoyed water skiing, traveling, golf, and humor.

Survivors include his wife, a son, Tim(Kristen) Oyer, Geneva, a daughter, Sara(Lee) Hall, Milwaukie, OR. And 4 grandchildren, Dylan & Arron Oyer, and Sylvia & Elaina Hall.

He is preceeded in death by his parents,& 2 brothers, Glen and Clifford Oyer.

Funeral services are Monday, March 5 at 10:30 AM at the Swiss Village Chapel with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also Sunday from 2 - 8 at Swiss Village. Officiating is Pastor Jerry Flueckiger.

Burial is at the MRE Cemetery,Berne.
