Corlyle F. DRAKE, 79, North Manchester, died at 3:35 a.m. Friday at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester [Jun 2000]. Born in South Whitley to Heber and Edna BEIGH DRAKE, he married H. Marcile Fleck on June 7, 1947 in Akron. She survives.

Mr. Drake was a graduate of South Whitley High School and Manchester College, and received a degree in education from Ball State University. He taught music and directed bands in Hamilton, Flint, Converse, Oak Hill United School Corporation and was on the music faculty at Taylor University. He was president of Northern Indiana Solo, Band, Orchestra, Vocal Association for two years and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Rochester. He served in the U.S. Army in the Aleutian Islands. He was Director of Veteran Affairs for Whitley County in 1946.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharmin and husband Donald Brenneman, Bristol, and Jill R. and husband Roger Udd, Upland; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Peabody Chapel, 400 W. Seventh St., North Manchester with the Rev. Donald BRENNEMAN officiating. Private interment services will be held at a later date. Friends called from 1-2 p.m. Monday at Peabody Chapel. Memorials may be made to Peabody Caring Circle. Arrangements are being handled by Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, North Manchester.
