Peter Louis Strodel, 61, Lebanon, died at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday (April 4, 2000) at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. Mr. Strodel was a band teacher, staring his teaching career in Roann. He served as assistant band director at Northfield High School, Wabash County, and for 23 years served as band director at Oak Hill High School, in Grant County. He became the director of the Indiana State School Music Association, Indianapolis, in 1991, where he was serving at the time of his death. He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, Lebanon; the Ulen County Club and Elks Lodge, both in Lebanon; the Phi Beta Mu Band Honorary; the American Band Masters Association; the Indianapolis Symphonic Band; and the Indiana Music Educators Association. He was born in Huntington on May 25, 1938, to Edward and Irene Juanita Brechner Strodel. On Oct. 2, 1970, in Lexington, Ky., he married Linda Sue Davis. She survives in Lebanon. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Christopher (Deema E.) Romer, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mrs. John W. (S. Allyson) Hall, Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and a half-sister, Joan Meyer, Liberty Mills. Calling is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, where Elks rites will be performed at 8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Myers Mortuary Chapel of Memories, with Rev. Dennis Deeter officiating. Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Indiana State School Music Association.
