Dr. Stuber was raised on Meshingomesia Farm, a Miami Indian settlement in Marion, and owned it at the time of his death. Dr. Stuber was a graduate of Ball State Teachers College in 1962 with a BS degree in Education, received his MA from Ball State in 1968, and his PhD from Purdue University in 1991. He was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity at Ball State University. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Honor Society-Purdue Chapter; Phi Delta Kappa, Educational Honorary.
Dr. Stuber was inducted into the Indiana High School Forensic Association's Hall of Fame in 1999, and received the National Forensic League Fourth Diamond Key Award in 2004. He was president of the Indiana Forensic Association. Dr. Stuber received the Indiana State Teachers Life-License and Administration and Supervision Teachers License.
He was currently an English Literature, Speech and Debate teacher, Gifted Coordinator for the Valparaiso Community School Corp. He formerly taught English/Speech and Debate at Highland High School, Highland, IN for 20 years. Dr. Stuber dedicated 45 years to teaching. He owned Flagstick Golf Shop, Valparaiso and was an avid golfer, having golfed since the age of 11. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chesterton and was a certified Lay Speaker.
Larry is survived by his wife, Janenne (Nichols) Stuber, Chesterton; son, Mark (Tricia) Stuber, Opelika, Ala.; daughter, Merievelyn Stuber, Highland; and two grandchildren, Amanda and Matthew Stuber, Opelika, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Evelyn (MacAdam) Stuber.
