SEATTLE, Wash. - Born Dec. 4, 1900, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Everson, Eva Pennifold died Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at the age of 98. Eva's husband, George E. Penniford, preceded her in death, as did a son, George W., and a daughter, Eugenia, and two grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Lou Schueler and Georgia Howard of Seattle and Martha Rich of East Alton. She laves six grandchildren, sic great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. During World War II, Eva enlisted in the Women's Army Corps and served as an occupational therapist in Denver. She was a member of the American Legion Post 204, the Eastern Star and the White Shrine Chapters in Wood River. Cremantion took place in Seattle, where she resided. The ashes were returned to Alton. A private graveside ceremony was held in Upper Alton Cemetery. (Alton Telegraph, Alton, IL, Tuesday, June 15, 1999, p. 5, Col. 3)
