Olga Benora Berg passed away August 30, 1977, in Fargo, North Dakota. She was born March 12, 1898, in Eldred, Minnesota, the daughter of Helge and Anna Marie (Bangen) Thoreson. She completed eight grades in Polk County District No. 41 Elementary School, and also attended Moorhead, Minnesota, Normal School for one year.
Olga dreamt of being a teacher, but being a girl, she was not encouraged to go on to school to train for teaching. Although she did not enjoy cooking, she was a good cook and was known particularly for the good bread and buns that she made. She was an accomplished pianist, organist and alto singer. She served as church organist, Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir and was active most of her life in the church Ladies Aid. She was one of the organizers of the Sand Hill Luther League. Her husband, Hans, played the violin and she enjoyed playing organ and violin duets with him. Both of them enjoyed their church work and were active in it most of their lives.
Olga was survived by two daughters: Myrtle (Frank) Brandon and Evelyn (Charles) Mondich; four sons: Hans (Lorraine), Alvin (Glo), Lawrence (Phillis) and Russell (Dorrine) Berg, and 18 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and husband.
