James McCarty died at his late residence in Shelby township at 5:55 p.m. Saturday, August 22, of liver trouble, after an illness of over a year, his age being 81 years, 6 months and 9 days. He will be buried Monday at 3:30 p.m. in Lewis Creek Baptist cemetery. Services at the church at 3 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. S. D. Hawkins.
Deceased was one of the pioneers of this county, living here the greater part of his life. The pallbearers are John Pherigo, Perry Harris, John Stevens, Jeff Smith, Richard Courtney and Wm. Major. D. B. Wilson & Son, funeral directors.
