Mr. Joe Calvin Rose, 83, died from complications of Diabetes at the Webster Memorial Hospital in Eupora, Mississippi on May 20, 1997. Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of all services which were conducted at the Duck Hill Baptist Church, in Duck Hill, Ms, His body was laid to rest at the Duck Hill Cemetery by Pallbears, Nathan Rose, Derek Rose, Dustin Rose, Rodney Crowell, Rodger Cox and Stacy Cox. Mr. Joe, worked as a farmer, carpenter and for the U S Forest Service until he retired at the age of 62, where he did what he loved, built cabinets and furniture, all out of wood, (died of a stroke, complications from diabetes)He built his own house, and several others, worked during the depression for a dollar a day blowing stumps with dynamite to clear road for Hiway 51, worked and built telephone exchanges for AT&T, worked at Camp McCain during WW2, housed 4 soldiers wives during the war while they were stationed at Camp McCain, near Elliot, Ms. He leaves his wife Alice Corinne Pullen Rose, married in Oct of 1934 and five children, Jo Ann Cox,of Duck Hill, Paul Burnell,of Hernando, Ms, Marilyn Groves, of Duck Hill, Fred Wayne Rose of Eupora, Ms and Ralph Preston of Raliegh, NC. His parents were the late Henry Eugene and Maud Wilburn King Rose. Other grandchildren were Janna Cox, Anna Rose, David Rose, Allison Rose, Lisa Hathcock, Holley Rose, Mary Amanda Rose, and Ashley Rose. He also had numerous Great grand children. Preceding Mr. Joe in death were, Sisters, Mary Frances Holmes, Pearl Taylor, Ruby Herman, Louise Hubbert, and Virginia Fox, and one brother Jewel Henry Rose..He was living in Duck Hill, Ms at the time of his death also the place of his birth.
