Salvatore Frances "Sal/Wiggles" Pizzurro
Learn about upgrading this memorial...
Birth: Mar. 13, 1949
Death: Jun. 5, 1985

Salvatore was the son of Cosmo Pizzurro and Margaret Mann Pizzurro. He was the husband of Madeline Claire Farren Pizzurro, and the father of Christine, Noreen and Bernadette.

Sal was a great man. I say that not because he is my father but because it's the truth. He was always honest, sometimes to a fault, but never to hurt. He was an amazing baseball player. His sundays were always spent with his family and friends. He was part of the Derby's(local bar)softball team along with other members of his family and friends. There he was given the nickname "wiggles", b/c of his short legs he seemed to wiggle when he ran. He enjoyed playing darts. Which is one of the reasons why his wife chose the dart board to be displayed on his headstone.

Sal and Madeline met while they were in elementary school. They started dating when they were 13 and 14 yrs old and married at the age of 20 and 21. Even though he died at such a young age they still had more then 20 years together.

He showed true courage on the night that he passed away. A fire broke out in his home and he tried to get one of his daughters out. He thought his daughter was in the living room, which was engulfed in flames, but she was actually passed out in her bedroom due to smoke inhalation (she survived). Neighbors came in the house and were able to help him out of the house. Unfortunately he passed away on the way to the hospital b/c of smoke inhalation. It was due to both his and his wife's fast thinking and quick response that the rest of the family members were able to get out of the house.

My mother has always said that no matter what he survived in her heart. Every time she looks at my sisters and I she sees him. She sees him in the way we laugh, our eyes, our smile, believe it or not our eyebrows (LOL), our attitudes (both good and bad), our respect for people, and our sense of humor.

He will always be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
