Richard was the son of Benjamin and Ruth.
Grandson of Andrew Longacre & Hannah Ireson, the fore bearers of the Western and Southern Longacre's. And the second great grandson of Anders Peterson Longacre, born 1657 and Magdelana Cock Longacre, born 1659, the first Longacre's born in America.
On August 15, 1813 Richard married his cousin Elizabeth in Jefferson County TN.
They had eleven children.
Richard Longacre served in the War of 1812 and was first lieutenant.
The last year of his service he was promoted to lieutenant colonel.
We have a copy of the family page from Richard and Elizabeth's family Bible. This has been an immense help in sorting out their family.

Richard Longacre served in the war of 1812 and was first lieutentant. The last year of his service he was promoted to lieutentant colonel. He built the first frame house in Big Creek Township and at a time when there was but one building in Pleasant Hill and that was a log structure.

From Abstracts of obituaries published weekly in the St. Louis Christian Advocate-
LONGACRE - Richard was born in East Tenn, in the year 1791, and died near Pleasant Hill, Mo, 15 Sept 1871. For 45 years he lived an acceptable member of the Methodist communion. He leaves a large family of children and grand-children. -
