First married to a man named Hope.

Ruth Akin Hope Cannon, 88, of Morgantown died at a local nursing home.

The Ohio County native was a housewife and a member of Sandy Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

She was a daughter of the late John and Lou Ella Leach Akin and the wife of the late Everett Cannon.

Survivors include six daughters, Bessie L. House and Liz F. Subblett both of Morgantown, Flossie M. West of Logansport, Ruby F. Double of Alexandria, La., and Mary E. Hope and Belma K. Jones both of Bowling Green;

five sons, Vernie J. Hope of Woodbridge, Va., Morton R. Hope Sr. of Portage, In., George E. Hope of Morgantown, Randall H. Hope of Fordsville and Harlen A. Hope of Warren, Mich.;

two step-daughters, Marie Roberts of Indianapolis and Opaline Hooten of Morgantown;

one step-son, Willie E. Cannon of Indianapolis;

53 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several step grandchildren.
