Dorothy M. Dendinger, 89, of North Fairfield, died Friday morning, March 13, 2009, in Norwalk Memorial Home.
She was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Willard, daughter of the late Dalton C. and Bernice (Neuman) Tanner, and was a lifelong area resident. Dorothy was a member of Assembly of God Church of North Fairfield, and the Young at Heart Club of North Fairfield. She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Indians, and she would take her naps so she could watch the ball games on the west coast. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, and was a wonderful cook and baker, especially her great bread and chocolate cakes.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Roy Dendinger of North Fairfield and John and Becky Dendinger of Greenwich, Ohio; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy Dendinger of Greenwich, Lois and Dan Barringer of Dunkirk, Ohio, and Ruth and HerschelHoneycutt of North Fairfield,12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Rosemary Tanner of Plymouth, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, whom she married April 27, 1940, John Sherwood Dendinger, who died in 1999; grandsons, Gy Dendinger and Tim Evans; and sisters, Doris Wonders and Iona Schild.
Friends may call 2-6 p.m. Sunday in Walker Funeral Home,98 W. Main St. Norwalk, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday; Pastor Bob Hudberg and Pastor Joe Green will officiate. Burial will be in North Fairfield Cemetery.
