Edward James Hoyting was born in Thomaston Ct on the 27 June 1892 to James and Nellie (Dagan ) Hoyting. His father died when he was 5 years old leaving his mother to raise him and his sisters Lillian and Grace. Edward attended Thomaston Schools. When his mother remarried in 1910, The family moved to his stepfather Dwight Woodruff's dairy farm in Plymouth Ct. Edward was no longer the only "man" in the house with a new stepfather and step brother named George Woodruff. During his lifetime, Edward worked for Seth Thomas Clock Company in Thomaston for many years as well as Eagle Lock in Terryville Ct and various other industrial jobs. He was also a veteran of World War I and was a Purple Heart recipient. His name is engraved on the Veterans Monument on the green in the Terryville section of Plymouth. He died on 3 Dec 1956 in Waterbury Ct. Burial was alongside his mother Nellie Woodruff, in Saint Joseph Cemetery ,Bristol Ct.
