Mrs. John (Filomene) Check, 65, of 20091 Cone Rd., Mlan died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday in her home after a lingering illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Roman K. Narkum officiating. Burial will be in Marble Park Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 tonight in the Stevens and Bush Funeral Home where friends may call.
The daughter of John and Elizabeth Fojtik, she was born Dec. 22, 1894, in Veseli Noravia, Czechoslovakia. She came to the United States in 1915 and lived at Archbold, Ohio. Her marriage to John Check was Aug. 24, 1915, at Archbold. They made their home on a farm there until 1928 when they moved to their present address at Milan. Mrs. Check was a Gold Star mother.
She is survived by her husband, two sons, John of Britton and Rudolph of Monroeville; a daughter, Miss Anna Check, at home; two brothers, John Fojtik of Argentina; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Pavka and Mrs. Angeline Hudecek, both of Cleveland, Ohio, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Henry, who died June 2, 1944, and S. Sgt. Robert Check, killed in action in the Philippines Nov. 20, 1944. The Monroe Evening News, Wednesday, June 15, 1960
