John Frank Barnes Jr., affectionately referred to as "Jr." by his family, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, in Georgia.

Born in Allendale, S.C., John relocated to Philadelphia.

John, being an entrepreneur, started his first official business, cleverly titled, "Let's Meat At Your Door," and was known as the "Meat Man." John would "hustle" meat out of his home and his van before obtaining his first store in Bristol, Pa. He maintained a large clientele base that he would serve for years to come.

John drove for the U. S. Postal Service. He moved his growing family from the Bloomsdale section of Bristol to Edgewater Park. John continued his career as a truck driver, working for companies such as Dry Food Co. and Alert Motor Freight.

In 1998, John led his entire family and found the Lord Jesus Christ through Agape Christian Fellowship Church. In 2000, He joined Abundant Life Christian Fellowship in Edgewater Park. In 2005, John joined Living Faith Christian Center in Pennsauken. He enjoyed his time there. He served as a parking attendant, an usher, and was a part of the men's group.

Over the years, John was able to accomplish many of his lifelong goals and aspirations, including flying planes, the purchase of his tractor, and incorporation of his business, John Barnes and Sons LLC.

John leaves behind his six children: Lance of Atlanta, Ga., Lamont of Maple Shade, Lydell, also of Atlanta, Ashante of Elizabeth, N.J., and Akeysa and Avita, both of Atlanta; two daughters-in-law, Bernadette and Rebecca; and one son-in-law, Obafemi Oluyomi Awe.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Michael, Ashley, Terrell, Tiffany, Tiara, Mya, and Jevon; mother-in-law Maxine Jones of Philadelphia; brother Kenneth Barnes of Las Vegas; sister Wanda Peay of Lansdowne, Pa.; three sisters-in-law: Anne Bryant, Diane Herder and Linda Barnes; one brother-in-law, Gonzales Peay; and a host of other relatives, church members, and close friends, all who loved him dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Living Faith Christian Center, 2323 Route 73, Pennsauken. Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington.
