ARCHIBALD MCCOLLUM 1835-1913 CIVIL WAR

WAS MEMBER OF THE FAMOUS IRON BRIGADE
Death Summons Archibald McCollum of Decoria Township, and Veteran of the Civil War
Archibald McCollum, a veteran of the civil war, and one of the early settlers of Decoria Township, passed away at his home in that township this morning at 2:30 from a general breakdown, due to advancing years.
Deceased was born in Morgan County, Ohio, 78 years ago. When a child he removed with his parents to Indiana and at the age of 15 came to Wisconsin. In 1861 he enlisted, in the Second Wisconsin volunteer infantry and was a member of the famous Iron Brigade. During his enlistment he was engaged in eighteen important battles. At the close of the war he came to Minnesota and took up a claim in Decoria Township, where he made his home up to the time of his death.
Mr. McCollum is survived by his wife, four sons and three daughters, Samuel of Mankato; Asa, James and Clayton McCollum of Decoria, Mrs. Delia Ore and Miss Lucy and Emma McCollum of Decoria Township, and one brother and one sister, H. L. McCollum of this city, and Mrs. Nancy Wiser of, Marion, Ind.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Baptist church at Kennedy's bridge, Rev. Hobbs officiating. The remains will be laid at rest in Decoria cemetery. Wilkin Post, G. A. R., of which the deceased was a member, will take charge of the services at the grave. M.R. 12-12-1913

FUNERAL OF LATE ARCHIBALD McCollum - Was Very Largely Attended Yesterday Afternoon
The funeral of the late Archibald McCollum was held yesterday afternoon from the Baptist mission Church at Kennedy's bridge, Rev. R. W. Hobbs, pastor of the Baptist church of this city, conducted the services. Burlison's quartet rendered special song service. The funeral was one of the most largely attended in that neighborhood for some time past.
The services at the grave were in charge of Wilkin Post G. A. R. of this city, of which the deceased was a member. The remains were laid at rest In the Decoria cemetery.
