Berthold "Bert" Hoefle, 87, of Reisterstown, died Monday, March 21, 2011, at his daughter's home in Hampstead.
Born Dec. 5, 1923, in Germany, he was the son of the late Gottlob and Frieda Hoefle. He was the husband of Martha Opper Hoefle, who died in 1998.
He was an "A" course graduate of Polytechnic Institute in Baltimore. He served honorably in World War II with the Army. He was a master mechanic in the tool and dye industry, having worked with Continental Can Company for 24 years and Independent Can Company for 21 years. He was a member of Ionic Lodge No. 145 AF & AM in Reisterstown. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and tinkering in his tool shop.
Surviving are children Linda C. and husband Samuel DeLaurence Jr., of Fairfield, Pa., Janet G. Blum, of Hampstead, and Edward J. Hoefle, of Belcamp; grandchildren Samuel III, Haley, Jonathan and Jesse; great-grandchildren Bailey, Ella, Abigail and Olivia; and a twin sister, Hilda Wingate, of Reisterstown.
Services were at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills. with the Rev. William Louis Piel officiating. Interment in Lake View Memorial Park.
