He moved to California and was working building airplanes when World War II started. He then served in the US Navy during WW II.
After the war, he moved to Oregon and married Isabell Schmidt on April 25, 1953.
Paul and Isabell had 4 children, including daughter Jean Marie who only lived to be a few days old.
Paul was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Lebanon. He belonged to the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus and to the American Legion. After he retired from working at the plywood mill, he spent many hours volunteering in the community to help those in need.
