Lonie Leach was my Daddy's Brother, I never knew him but I heard alot about him while growing up, I found this obituary in the archives of the Monroe Evening Newspaper from 1956.
"NEWPORT — Lonie Leach, 55, of 4196 E. Newport Rd. died of a stroke at 11:30 a.m.-"Wednesday while working at Monroe Paper Products Co.
Born Oct. 12, 1900, at Speedwell, Tenn., he was the son of John and Ella Ann Brooks Leach. He married Cecil May Dummett Aug. 27, 1921. Mr. and Mrs. Leach came to Monroe in 1929. Mr. Leach had been employed by Monroe Paper Products Co. for the last six years. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, his mother, Mrs. Leach of Speedwell; a son, Floyd, of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 3 daughters, Mrs. J. B. Wilson of Newport, Mrs. Cleo Fuentes, of VanWert, Ohio, and Mrs. John Maddux of Monroe; 3 sisters, Mrs. Florida Shupe, Mrs. Cora Moyers and Mrs. Lottie Ridings, all of Speedwell; 6 brothers, Elmer of (Monroe, and Warren, James, Ed, Frank and Hugh, all of Speedwell; 12 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The body is in Maurice funeral home at Monroe, where friends may call after 7 tonight. Services will be at 2:30 Saturday afternoon in the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
