Leonard Saylors was born in Rutherford County, NC in 1786. He was the oldest son of Abraham Saylors and Elizabeth Dove Saylors. When Leonard was about three years old, his family moved to Abbeville County, SC. Leonard Saylors married Sarah Johnson about 1810. They raised their children in Anderson County, SC in the area that is now known as Saylors Crossroads. After Leonard Saylors died, his estate was sold. The estate papers were filed in Anderson County, SC and listed his heirs. Therefore, the names of Leonard Saylors children are not in question.

Careful evaluation of Abbeville County, SC census records will confirm that Leonard Saylors is the son of Abraham Saylors and the grandson of Leonard Saylors who lived in Mecklenburg County, NC and died in Anderson County, SC on Oct 14, 1811. We now have in our possession, a copy of Abraham Saylors 1875 Rutherford County, NC marriage bond that records his wife's name as Elizabeth Dove. DNA and other evidence leave no doubt that Abraham Saylors' wife is Elizabeth Dove, daughter of Thomas and Dorothy Dove.

The Saylors Family migrated from Mecklenburg County, NC in the late 1700s. DNA supports the fact that the Saylors of Saylors Crossroads in Anderson, SC are related to the Saylors of White County, TN. that are buried in Sayors Cenmetery.

Leonard Saylors' descendants have been researching him for over twenty five years.
