Memorials: Contributions may be made to the Woman's Club of Fort Worth, 1302 Pennsylvania Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76104, or a charity of choice.
One of the last true Southern belles, Rae was born Feb. 28, 1909, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to Louella Wade and Bailey Brown Potter. She graduated from Bethel Woman's College in Kentucky. She swept Alfred Foy Curry off his feet in Tulia, and they were married in 1930. In 1942, the Currys moved to Fort Worth, and it was here they flourished as a family.
Rae was very involved in her community and was an active member of the Woman's Club of Fort Worth. She was president of the Fort Worth Federation of Women's Clubs from 1951 to 1952. She was also a charter member and past president of Provarsu Study Club. An active member of University Christian Church, Rae also enjoyed her time with the Shady Ladies Bridge Club at Shady Oaks Country Club. Tennis was mastered at the age of 60 by this former runway model. She was a passionate traveler and visited many international destinations with her husband. Always the enthusiastic trend-setter, Rae had a zest for life and never met a stranger. This centenarian will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Many thanks to Broadway Plaza at Westridge for their many years of service and dedication. Thanks also to Vitas Hospice Care for their assistance and love. The grandchildren would like to thank Rae's daughter-in-law Claire Curry for her years of devotion and care. Rae loved Claire dearly and considered her to be the daughter she never had. The family would also like to thank longtime friend Lynne Urbel for her constant support and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Alfred Foy Curry Jr. They had two devoted sons, Alfred Foy Curry III and
Timothy Cullen Curry, both of whom preceded her in death.
Survivors: Grandchildren, Alan Curry of San Angelo, Claire Saunders and husband, Derek, of Austin and Cullen Curry and Beth Spencer and husband, Jimmy, all of Fort Worth; seven great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Claire Curry.
