OBITUARY FOR MRS. S. B. APPLE
Sarah Belle Decker was born on a farm north of Palestine, July 9th, 1854 where her girlhood days were spent. She died at the residence of her son, C. E. Apple at Sioux City, Iowa, Jan. 3rd, 1923 after an illness of three days of bronchial pneumonia.
She united in marriage with Theodore Lisman, March 19th, 1873 who died three months later. To this union was born one daughter, Bertha, who died at the age of three.
In September 29th, 1878 she was married to Wm. S. Apple. To this union three children were born, Chas. E., John Emmerson, and Mary Chloe.
The family resided on a farm in LaMotte township until the children became of school age, when they moved to Robinson in 1888 to obtain the benefit of better schools.
After completing the public school course, the family moved to Urbana, Champaign in 1901, to give the children the benefit of the State University and home surroundings.
They returned to the farm in LaMotte township in 1903 to care for grandmother Decker.
Mr. Apple died at the farm home July 26th, 1917.
Mrs. Apple maintained the home at this place until the summer of 1922, when she moved to Palestine.
She is survived by three children, Chas. E. Apple, of Sioux City, Iowa, John Emmerson Apple, of Robinson, and Mary Ghloe Apple of McAlester, Okla.
A sister, Mrs. Rhoda Alexander of Robinson, and a brother, Isaac Lawson Decker of Atascadero, Calif., besides a host of loving relatives and friends.
Mrs. Apple was a devoted, faithful wife and mother, one whose memory will always be held dear in the lives of each and to them will always be the sweet memory of a blessed mother.
