|Caroline Sault McDaniel|
|Birth: ||1838, England|
|Death: ||May 6, 1913|
She died at Samaritan hospital of intestinal nephritis and aeortic regurgitation, according to her death record. (See https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JDRN-4YW)
She was the widow of Civil War 55th Pennsylvania veteran John H. McDaniel, whose burial is not yet known, but he is shown in other records as living at Wilmington around the time of the war, too, so he might be buried here as well. He was recorded as having a Civil War invalid's pension in 1888 and might be the recorded Delaware death for a person of this name who died in Wilmington in 1902, but that association is not yet confirmed. The couple had children "L," Eliza, Samuel, John H. Jr. who died as a toddler, John W., Emma, George and William.
Caroline's husband was the son of Joseph Ashton McDaniel and Johanna Boyer McDaniel of Philadelphia, buried in Kensington Union (West Street) Cemetery. Father and son, and other relatives, were in the hat making or hat pressing business. Joseph's sister Elizabeth married William Goldson Calver, a Philadelphia bonnet maker and Joseph and Elizabeth's brother Benjamin was also in the hat-pressing business.
Caroline's husband's uncle was Alfred Fulton Walton, buried in New Cathedral, Wilmington. Alfred was son of Sarah Ashton Walton, sister of Joseph's mother Hannah Ashton McDaniel.
