Anton Blau was born July 24,1904 at his parent's farm home 2-1/2 miles north of Plain, a half mile off Highway 23, Franklin Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin (E5349 Maple Lane). Parents were Joseph Blau (Sr) and Anna Gruber Blau.

Anton was baptized by Rev. J. G. Lauer on July 31, 1904 at St. Luke Catholic Church, Plain, Sauk County, Wisconsin; sponsors were his aunt and uncle, John Blau and wife Caroline Gruber Blau. He attended school at St. Luke's Catholic School in Plain.

Anton was married to Merie Mohelnitzky on September 30, 1931, by Rev. A. J. Daniels at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in Germantown, Richland County, Wisconsin. Witnesses were Anton's brother George Blau, and friend of the bride, Dorothy LaRue. Anton and Merie had 9 children.

They farmed on the Blau home farm north of Plain until 1962 when they sold their farm. Anton and his brothers George and Joseph M. Blau also rented different farms at different times, all in Sauk County. They tried a new method of farming, called strip cropping. In 1938 he was elected treasurer of Franklin Township in Sauk County. He also served on the school board for Fern Hill School District #3 in Franklin Township. In 1955, Anton was elected as Town Chairman of Franklin Township, a post he held until at least 1962. In 1958, Anton was 1st Vice President of the Democratic precinct.

After a short stay in California, Anton and Merie moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in 1963 where Anton worked as a caretaker at the Fond du Lac County Home. In 1971, they moved to an apartment above their son's meat market in Saukville, Wisconsin and stayed there until 1976 after which they moved to an apartment in the Village of Plain, Wisconsin.

Anton played the fiddle and sang many German songs such as Lieber Anton and Fensterstockhiasl, and especially favorite was "Let the Rest of the World Go By." In 1926, he was a charter member of the St. Luke's Men's Choir and continued singing in the choir until 1963. He and some of his children played instruments and sang during a Sunday morning radio program at WRDB in Reedsburg; the program was called the Blau Family Hour. The family competed in many talent shows around the area, such as the Wagon Wheels western musical show in Prairie du Sac.

Anton died on Tuesday, September 8, 1987 at the Greenway Manor Nursing Home, Spring Green, Wisconsin, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain on September 10, Father J. T. Fitzgerald, officiated. Burial was in St. Luke's new cemetery.
