According to the book, "Old Timers of Hunt Co., Texas" by C. W. Goff, in the section titled, "Old Timers In a Bunch," pg. 23 & 24, it states some like this: Policeman Pitts-husband to Martha J. Hopkins, was killed in a bar fight by someone named Davis. A copy of this book is located in the Grand Prairie Texas public library
