L. ELAINE FORGEY
Lois Elaine (Versaw) Forgey, age 61 of Springview, passed away early Friday morning, February 1, 2002 at the Brown County Hospital in Ainsworth, Nebraska. Born in Minden, Nebraska on October 3, 1940, Elaine was the youngest of five children born to Willie K. and Lois G. (Martin) Versaw. Elaine was raised in the Franklin, Nebraska area where she graduated from Franklin High School in 1958 and later went on to graduate from Nebraska Wesleyan University and Bryan Memorial School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1963.
In November 1963, Elaine married Lyle A. Forgey of Springview and moved to the Springview area to help Lyle and his family with the family ranch. Three children were born to Lyle and Elaine: Sarah L. (Forgey) Beans, Nadine R. Forgey and Carmen R. Forgey. Elaine enjoyed family, friends and nature, in particular her flowers.
During her life she was a member of the Springview United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Elta Zeta Sorority and a longtime 4-H leader and council member. But most of all, she was a friends and helpmate to many.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Willie K. and Lois G. Versaw of Franklin, Nebraska, and Lyle's parents, Glenn and Lona (Massey) Forgey of Springview, Nebraska.
She is survived by husband, Lyle Forgey of Springview; daughters, Sara (Forgey) Beans and husband Terry of Lexington, Nadine Forgey of Grand Island and Carmen Forgey and son Garrett of Grand Island; brother Keith Versaw and wife Mickie of Replublic, Missouri; sisters, Helen Arnold and husband Gene of Trumbull, Nebraska, Norma Steinkruger and husband Keith of Macon, Nebraska and Dixie Siemsen and husband Bob of Fairfield, Nebraska; brother-in-law Wayne Forgey and wife Marvel of Springview; sister-in-law Bessie McCoy and husband Newell of Grand Island as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday February 4, 2002 at the United Methodist Church in Springview with Pastor Mary Jensen officiating. Interment was in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Springview. Music was provided by Doris Weddel and Stan Libolt playing "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" and "Precious Lord Take My hand". Casket bearers were John Halberslaben, Larry Shepperd, Ernest Hallock Steve Hallock, Kevin Wolfe and Duane mcCormick. Honorary casetbearers were Vicki Larson, Dolly Kienke, Heidi Ruther and the late Elsie Velder.
