Abused Little Dog
_________ ೋღღღೋ ____________

THIS IS BOOTS! I found a photo that my dad took of Boots - it says December 1969 on the back.

Boots was a pretty little yellow dog - about the size of a beagle. She had little brown paws and fur that was similar to a Lab. She had the sweetest little face and expressive eyes.

Boots belonged to the neighbors behind us. She slept in their cellar and was tied to a rope out back during the day. She often slipped her collar and came to visit our yard.

Her owners were horrible people and abused her terribly.

The mother beat Boots with a broom if she didn't come to her quick enough - now what made her think that would make Boots come to her? And the son kicked her around always yelling at her.

She was so innocent and sweet, so very sad.

When the owners were not around I used to crawl through the bushes and give her hugs. I often saw my dad giving her little pats as she trotted around him when he was out in the yard.

The son once slapped me across the face so hard I saw stars - I don't know why he did it - just a big mean bully.

Dear Boots, I wish I could have saved you from them. Back then there wasn't much a little kid could do against such horrible people.

I have thought of you often and wondered .....
