The stone is missing but he is there. Nathaniel Ladd was the son of Nathaniel Ladd and Elizabeth Gilman. His grandfather, Daniel Ladd, was born in Deal, County Kent, England and came over to the British Colonies on the Mary and John.

Nathaniel built what is now known as the Ladd/Gilman house in Exeter, New Hampshire, home of Nicholas Gilman Jr, signer of the United States Constitution. Nathaniel was a public figure in early Exeter and his legacy remains.
