Charles F. Kostenbauder Jr., 90, Paoli, formerly of Merion Station, died early Monday morning at Devon Manor, Devon, Pa.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Charles F. Sr. and Edna (Colclesser) Kostenbauder. He married Mildred B. Brasen in 1945 in Pittsburgh. She died Dec. 5, 1993.
Surviving are a son, John F. (Kerry) of Devon; and two granddaughters: Laura and Jillian Kostenbauder. He was preceded in death by a brother, John.
He was a member of Baptist Church of the Evangel, Narberth, Pa.
Mr. Kostenbauder retired in 1972 as an agent from the IRS. He practiced as a CPA for 20 years after his retirement. He served as judge of elections in Merian Station.
He was a 1935 graduate of Altoona High School.
Mr. Kostenbauder was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving with the 38th Bomber Group in the South Pacific.
Friends will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at William G. Bigelow II Funeral Home, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. by Pastor Bill Pepper. Interment will be made at Carson Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 203 N. Valley Forge Road, Devon, PA 19333.

Charles F. Kostenbauder Jr., 90, of Paoli, a decorated World War II veteran and retired accountant, died May 5 at Devon Manor.
A native of Altoona, Pa., Mr. Kostenbauder earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in accounting from the University of Pittsburgh.
During World War II, he was an intelligence specialist in the Army Air Force with the 38th Bomber Group in the South Pacific and received a Bronze Star for valor.
In 1945 he married Mildred B. Brazen, a Navy Wave he had met at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.
The couple lived in Pittsburgh, where Mr. Kostenbauder, a certified public accountant, was an agent with the IRS. The IRS transferred him to its Philadelphia office, and in 1961 the couple moved to Merion Station.
After retiring as chief of the IRS audit division in Philadelphia, Mr. Kostenbauder had a solo accounting practice for 20 years. For several years he was also controller for Cushing Junior College in Bryn Mawr. He was a former judge of elections in Merion Station and a member of the Baptist Church of the Evangel in Narberth.
Mr. Kostenbauder's wife died in 1993. He is survived by a son, John, and two granddaughters.
The funeral was held May 7 at the Bigelow Funeral Home in Altoona. Burial was in Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville, Pa.
