Where do I start? Our sweet, loving little girl cat. Never weighed over 7 pounds in nearly 18 years.
She came to us on a warm summer evening. We were sitting outdoors. I heard a weak crying. My husband looked everywhere...for two or three evenings in a row. Finally, up the driveway, here comes a little, tiny, gray long-haired fur-ball. We were very hesitant to keep her at all but my daughter at high school age begged and begged us.
Our hesitation was due to the fact of our Doberman, Ragan. We were just sure it wouldn't work out.. But oh were we wrong!! He was scared of her!! (I must add before I go any further, Sadie was the "boss" of the whole house in the years to follow!)
After much consideration and pleading from our daughter, we said OK, but I would call around the neighborhood to see if this little cat belonged to anyone.(Before we went to the expense to spay her and shots and all). Our neighbor did own her but said he did not want her. (Glad too for I think it was not a good life).
So here we go...to the vet. She was 3 months old (estimate). I chose my birthday for her birthday. We decided she would be totally raised in the house. Therefore, and for safety, we had her declawed. We were all settled. A litter box...just everything she needed.
But wait...About 11 months later she became very ill. The doctors could not find what was wrong. (I had just lost my beloved Ragan. I thought this could not be happening). By a miracle she made it. She was so tiny and sick, I don't know how she survived this.
Years went on, we loved her, she loved us so much. She was very spoiled, I will admit. As I sit and write this, my memories of her are forever new and fresh. I know I could go on and on. We will never forget her. She was more than just a cat. She was so much a part of us. She was the first cat we ever owned...and I know she will be our last. There isn't any other one that could ease my heartache or take her place.
We love you girl. Hope to see you again someday.
