Cathy Bury passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2012, at the Marquis Vintage Suites with her loving family by her side.

Cathy was born in Butte on Sept. 11, 1934. She was the second of four daughters born to John "Dago" Shea and Mary Shea. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Girls' Central in 1952. While in high school, Cathy met the love of her life, Ted Bury, and they married on Feb. 6, 1954, at St. Mary's Church. Cathy and Ted had three children, Muff, Ted and Mick. Cathy's husband preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 2001. It was obvious to all that Cathy mourned his death every day and is truly at peace as she is once again with her loving, caring husband.

Cathy worked several jobs while in high school at the Columbia Gardens. She helped her parents run the restaurant at the Columbia Gardens for many years as well. She always had stories to share about the "Gardens" and this probably led to her being affectionately called "the food pusher" at all family functions.

Cathy worked for many years as a lunch-playground aide for School District No. 1 at the Kennedy Elementary School. She was very stern, however, she was known for the treats she provided to kids waiting for the school bus.

Cathy was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to all. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially during the holidays. She loved St. Patrick's Day and the third of July fireworks display, and of course, she had plenty of food for all at every celebration!

Cathy was blessed with four grandchildren, Rodger Ed Anderson, Maria Anderson, TJ Anderson and Samantha Jo Bury. Upon TJ's sudden death in 2004, his absence was soon filled with two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Sean Anderson. Cathy's infectious smile has been passed to her great-grandchildren.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; sisters, Bridgie Shea Vercella, Theresa Shea Smith; nephew, Shawn Vercella; and grandson, TJ Anderson;and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Muff and Rodger Anderson; son, Ted Bury; son and daughter-in-law, Mick Bury and Helen McEwen; grandson and wife, Roger and Maria Anderson; granddaughter, Samantha Jo Bury; and great-grandchildren, Isabella and Sean Anderson; brothers-in-law, Bill Smith and Jim Vercella; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Dale Schwanke of Great Falls; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ben and Ginny Bury in Belgrade, Alice Stark in Billings, Jeanette O'Brien in Washington, Sharon Bury and Sharon Dudden of Butte; special niece and friend, Alyce Briggs; numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friends. She will be especially missed by her loyal companion, Louie, her favorite black lab.

The family of Cathy Bury wishes to thank the staff of Marquis Vintage Suites and Highland Hospice. Your professionalism and dedication made a difficult time much easier.

In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's Church for visitations. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Private family placement of ashes will take place at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to Highland Hospice or Charity of donor's choice.
