Brandon Wesley Sgaggero, 29, of Funkstown, and formerly of Boonsboro, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at his home.


Born April 7, 1978, in Anchorage, Alaska, he was the son of Steven Michael and Tammie Kathleen Wright Sgaggero of Hagerstown.


Brandon was a 1996 graduate of Boonsboro High School, where he was a member of the Optimist Club and the lacrosse team. He was also a member of Who's Who of American high school students.


He had been a member of the U.S. Army for eight years and had been stationed in Hawaii. Brandon was the distinguished honor graduate of the 25th Infantry Division Area Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defense School, was NBC NCO, was named Soldier of the Year in 2000, and received four certificates of achievement, the Good Conduct Medal and three Army Achievement Medals.


He was employed by Amcor Flexibles in Hagerstown for the past two years.


Brandon attended Covenant Life Church on Dual Highway in Hagerstown.


In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Kellie L. Kefauver and husband, Brad, of Hagerstown; two brothers, Michael J. Sgaggero and Steven M. Sgaggero, both of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews, Jordan, Sydnie and Daniel Kefauver and Conner Sgaggero; maternal and paternal grandparents; and aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many close friends.


Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 11, at 10 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro. The Rev. Tim Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
