Frances (Farrar) Hamill was born September 28, 1937 in Natchez,
Mississippi to Lucian M. and Anna M. (Smith) Farrar. She died at home
June 6, 2007 after an extended battle with pulmonary interstitial
fibroses, Parkinson disease and finally, congestive heart
failure. Jesus added Frances (Fran) to his church, Thursday August 22, 1946. She
labored in His kingdom throughout her life, including the last months
while confined to bed. She lived in Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
She married S. Elton Hamill, Jr. on August 5, 1954 in
Conway, Arkansas. The wedding was performed by her
She is survived by her husband of more than 52 years of the home
and two grandchildren; Lauren Hamill, Searcy, Arkansas and Shaun Hamill of Arlington,
Texas; two brothers; Lucian M. Farrar, Jr. and wife LuEllen (Ousley); E.
Paul Farrar and wife Ruth Ann (Selby); and numerous nieces, nephews and
many, many friends. Fran was preceded in death by
grandparents Edward and Fannie (Niece) Farrar; Mabry and Bess (Hurst) Smith;
Her only child a son, S. E. (Rick) Hamill, IV.
Fran attended several high schools while traveling with her husband serving in the United
States Air Force before graduating from Las Cruces High in Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1957.
Prior to earning a degree in accounting Summa cum Laude from the
University of Texas in 1973, Fran held a number of
positions. She was secretary to the vice president of International Service
Corporation, Fort Worth, Texas; operated an IBM proof machine for the
First National Bank in Las Cruces, New Mexico; credit manager for Sears,
also in Las Cruces; and the bookkeeper for New Mexico State
University's physical plant. Memorials may be made to "In Search of the
