Mrs Katherine Cerny passed away at the home of Mr & Mrs Ferdinand Didier Sunday evening, Nov 8 at the age of 80 years & 24 days. She had been failing in health for the past year.

Katherine Codr was born in Bucy, Moravia on October 15, 1862. She came to the United States with her parents, Mr & Mrs Bartholamew Codr in 1872 at the age of 9 years. They settled on a farm near Linwood, NE.

On Oct 10, 1882 she was united in marriage to Joseph W Cerny at St Peter & Paul Church near Abie. To this union were born eleven children, ten of whom survive.

Mr & Mrs Cerny moved to Merrick Co in the spring of 1905 locating on the farm northwest of Clarks where Mrs Cerny passed away. After her husband's death in 1915 she continued to operate this farm with the help of her young sons. Since 1930 Mrs Cerny has made her home in Clarks.

The entire community has known her as Grandma Cerny and she will be greatly missed by all. She was a devoted Catholic and a good Christian mother.

Funeral services were held at St Peter's Church Wed morning at 9:30 o'clock with a Requiem High Mass officiated by Rev Father Kunkel. Burial was made at Cedar Hill Cemetery beside the remains of her husband near Morse Bluffs. Grandsons acted as pall-bearers.

Surviving are four sons: Frank of Sargent, Adolf of Cedar Bluffs, Albin of Madison and Edward of Schuyler; six daughters, Mrs Mary Navrkal and Mrs Christine Chromy both of Linwood, Mrs Carrie Morse, Mrs Lucy Chalupa and Mrs Stazie Vopat all of Sargent and Mrs Lydia Didier of Clarks; six aged brothers and sisters: Frank Codr of Sargent, John Codr of Dwight, Albert Codr and Mrs Frances Humlicek, both of Linwood, Mrs Lloyd Inks of Clarks and Mrs Josephine Rolence of Chicago, IL, 54 grandchildren & 39 great grand children. Her husband and a small daughter, Frances, preceded her in death.
