Mrs. Geo. F.S. Gardner Dies at Iowa City March 19 (1941)
Mrs. George F.S. Gardner, 58, 995 South Summit street, Iowa City, passed away Wednesday morning, March 19.
The former Carrie A. Allbaugh was the daughter of W.A. and Laura Allbaugh, born June 4, 1882,in Leon. She was married in 1902 to George F.S. Gardner, and the couple moved to Iowa City in1917, where they had since resided.
Mrs. Gardner was a member of the Jessamine Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, the Bethlehem Shrine, Pilgrim Chapter, D.A.R., Alpha Xi Delta Mothers' Club and the Christian church.
She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Lester W. Kimberly of Davenport; one son, Aubra A. Gardner of Milwaukee, Wis.; her mother, Mrs. Laura Allbaugh of Iowa City; two brothers R.C. Allbaugh of Eagle Grove, and Prof. L.G. Allbaugh of Iowa State College at Ames, and five grandchildren.
Impressive funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Oathout Funeral Home by her pastor. ervices at the grave were by the Order of Eastern Star. Burial in Iowa City cemetery.
