According to U.S. Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles, found on Ancestry.com, James Aldrich, aged 36, residing in Southwick, Massachusetts, a Cigar Maker, enlisted as a Private on February 9, 1864. He was wounded during the War. He enlisted in Company B, Massachusetts 61st Infantry Regiment on September 2, 1864 and mustered out on June 4, 1865.
He was the son of Mora and Anise Lee Aldrich, and a brother of Wells Aldrich. According to his death certificate, he died at Noble Hospital in Westfield, Massachusetts of Pneumonia.
