Ireneaia Lewis, 91, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at Scripps Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 18, 1913, in Nebraska, she lived in Encinitas for 62 years. She was a homemaker. She attended St. John's Catholic Church for more than 60 years, where she was a member of the Altar Society. She was a member of the Oceanside Four Wheelers for more than 20 years. Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her parents, James and Gertrude Cavanaugh; husband LeRoy Lewis; sister Mary McBride; and brothers Eugene Cavanaugh, Robert Cavanaugh, Joseph Cavanaugh, Donald Cavanaugh and James Cavanaugh. She is survived by her sons, Darrel Lewis of Encinitas and Robert Lewis of Cardiff; daughter Sheila Tholl of Solana Beach; sisters Vivian Fullerton of Albuquerque, N.M., and Claire Ramsey of Houston; brother Bernard Cavanaugh of O'Neil, Neb., Gerald Cavanaugh of Dubuque, Iowa, and Richard Cavanaugh of Las Vegas; grandchildren Kristine, Robert and Kevin; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at St. John's Catholic Church in Encinitas with the Rev. Burt Bougdain official. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. Bougdain officiating. Eternal Hills Mortuary is handling arrangements. (North County Times, Saturday, July 2, 2005, page B-7)
