Franklin Benjamin Whatley was born in Alabama to Mary Elizabeth Johns. Frank had two brothers John B. Davis and Frederick Davis, two sisters Margaret Davis and Elizabeth Ann Davis. There is a possibility according to the 1830 census that he also had another sister who was shown on the 1830 census report showing Mary Johns with children a boy, Franklin B. Whatley and a girl.
Frank was a farmer and carpenter. Frank served in the Mexican American war and the War Between the States.
His grandfather was Rev. Willis Whatley according to Rev. Ball's book on Clarke County and it's Surroundings. Research continues regarding which son of Rev. Willis Whatley is Frank's father.
