ANOTHER PIONEER CALLED
Joseph H. DeMasters, a resident of Idaho for 52 years and of this section of the state for 41 years, died Monday at his home in Emmett after an illness of several weeks. Mr. DeMasters was born in Lafayette County, Missouri, January 27, 1849, and was therefore 80 years of age. He came to Idaho in 1877, locating in the Boise Basin and was employed in freighting from Kelton to the Basin. Later he moved to Oregon, but soon afterward moved back to Idaho and took up a homestead near Ola in 1888. There he developed a splendid ranch and lived there until 1912, when he moved to Emmett and took charge of his deceased brother's business. He was married to Mary S. Miller in 1873. To them were born seven sons, four of whom are living. They are Jess and Irb of Ola, Ben of Sweet, and Claude of Emmett. His wife passed away about two years ago.
The body was taken to Ola where funeral services were held and burial took place on Wednesday.
