I had many pets in my life - all I loved, but Juice became the most precious of all. He possessed the sweetest nature I ever witnessed in an animal.
He came into our lives at a few months of age as a Christmas present for Kevin- a loving member of the family that endeared himself to all that met him.
He was a gentleman in every sense of the word - polite, friendly, careful and wanting to please. The gentleness and manners he displayed were his trademark.
He showed a welcoming discovery of other animals and he always looked at them as he saw us - part of the family. I saw him clean baby rabbits he found and was often amused at his elation to have playmates with the goat or the neighbors' cats, even attempting to befriend tempermental swans and babysit pheasants.
It was sad to watch as his eyes clouded with age, and to witness his hearing and mobility loss, but his friendly good nature never waivered, even with the pain of hip trouble that afflicted him so dramatically the last two years of his life. He could no longer use stairs or run in the back fields but stayed close and followed me around the house, frequently rubbling against my leg or laying his head in my lap. He was content to stay close.
You will always be with me.
