This cemetery is named for John T. and Sarah Waggoner, on whose land it was established. Martha Fullingim's burial in 1868 is the first recorded here. The Waggoners deeded the property to Wise County in 1885. I guess sometime later the name was changed to Oaklawn.

Info sent Jan 14, 2016 by Wendy Caldwell (no FAG #):

I was just looking at the Findagrave entry for John T Waggoner in Wise co, and need to bring this to your attention. It reads that Waggoner cemetery was changed to Oaklawn cemetery, which is entirely a mistake. These are completely different cemeteries. John Waggoner deeded "Waggoner" cemetery to the county in 1885. It also was known as Catlett Creek cemetery.

I'm the former Wendy Dolphay of this stuff. My daughters descend from Martha Fullingim, which is how we came to re-locate this cemetery. Here is the specific location on original survey map.

The ORIGINAL survey owner was James Rogers, who is on the 1860 census. I am currently looking to find when/ how that parcel transferred to John and Sarah Waggoner. The land deeds index is online, not the deeds themselves. The map is only the original folks.
