Birth: Jun. 6, 1832
Steuben County
New York, USA
Death: Mar. 21, 1906

Another grand citizen has gone to his heavenly repose at his home at Andis, (Ohio.) on Wednesday evening at 11 o'clock. Mr. Alonzo Hulbert joined the Church Triumphant in the 74th year of his age. For about three weeks he had suffered from an attack of bronchitis. On Sunday evening last his condition became alarming and although every thing possible was done to relieve him, his enfeebeld condition was unable to withstand the onslaught. Mr. Hulbert was born in Steuben County, New York in 1832 and moved to Ohio in 1853. He was married in 1858 to Miss Lydia Watts, who is yet living. Of this union ten children were born, four of them have answered the Masters call, the others were all permitted to gather around the bedside of their father as he passed to the Great Beyond. Of nineteen grandchildren only the writer was present at the demise.
Mr. Hulbert joined the M.E. Church when quite young, and for a large number of years he was officially connected with the same, besides serving in the church, confidence and trust was reposed in him by his fellowmen who elected him to the office of magistrate and other pieces of responsibility. He was always honored and respected as a conscientious christian man, whose chief characteristic was to maintain the right at all times.
But being weary for a moment he lay down to rest, and using his burden for a pillow, fell into that sleep that kisses down his eyelids still, and with the tranquility and obediance of a righteous child he answered the Fathers call. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Joshua Dillon. Interment at Huntington Cemetary. (Taken from Ironton Register, Thursday, April, 5, 1906)
