|Birth: ||Jun. 17, 1872|
|Death: ||Jan. 4, 1936|
Daughter of John Emery Lloyd and Esther Jane Howell, she came with her family to central Texas in 1876. She married William Robert "Rush" McCarty in 1900 in Williamson County. They lived in his Studebaker wagon, travelling throughout central Texas and the Texas Panhandle until finally settling near Abernathy, Hale County, where they farmed. Later she and her husband lived in the old adobe house of Casimero Romero at Old Tascosa, before moving to Dalhart where their son, John Lawton McCarty was editor and publisher of the Dalhart Texan newspaper. She was a devout Christian, a Baptist, and lived the teachings of her faith. Her death came as a result of blood poisoning following a cut received on her thumb while preparing Christmas Eve dinner.
Her and Mr. McCarty's children were John Lawton McCarty, Alvin Franklin "Bill" McCarty, Ada Naomi (McCarty) Echols, and Easter Mabel "Honeybee" (McCarty) Corcorran.
After her death, Mr. McCarty returned to Bell County where he married Miss Mattie Lee Blair, a longtime friend of the family.
